Designed by John Van Koert for Drexel’s iconic Profile collection, introduced in 1955, this distinctive chest of drawers is a wonderful example of mid-century modern design and craftsmanship.

The upper section features a drop-front compartment that opens to reveal four white pull-out shelves, two small drawers, and the original jewelry tray insert. The bottom-left shelf slides a bit tighter than the others but remains original to the piece. Below, the chest offers three large, deep drawers for ample storage, with the center drawer thoughtfully divided into three sections for organization.

An interesting detail about John Van Koert is that before becoming a furniture designer, he worked as a jewelry designer and industrial artist. As a tribute to his background, most of his pieces in the Profile collection were designed with a small jewelry tray hidden inside—a unique and charming signature feature of the line.

This piece recently spent time in our workshop, where it was carefully cleaned and refreshed while preserving its beautiful original finish. It is now ready for its next chapter and many more years of use.
