Available is a rare lounge chair and ottoman by Heywood-Wakefield Company from their Contemporary American Furniture line, introduced in 1963. This high-back swivel rocker, model A710D, is paired with the matching swivel leg rest ottoman, model A711LR.

Designed to reflect clean, crisp lines inspired by the American lifestyle, this line is expertly crafted from solid northern ash wood, finished in a warm hand-rubbed Café Walnut tone that enhances the natural grain. The rocker features sculpted, solid-wood arms and framing, carefully shaped to complement its modern silhouette. The seat and backrest are formed from steam-bent ash bucket frames, engineered for both visual elegance and ergonomic comfort.

The cushions are tufted polyfoam, contoured to the curved seat and back frames, with additional padded armrests for enhanced comfort. A cast aluminum swivel base with rubber-cushioned glides supports the chair. The matching ottoman features a ball-bearing steel swivel mechanism and a polished aluminum base, also fitted with protective rubber glides.

Both pieces function as originally intended and remain highly comfortable. Upholstery on the ottoman, backrest, and armrests is in excellent condition. The seat cushion shows some seam separation at the center; however, this is cosmetic only and does not affect comfort or usability. The wood surfaces show light scuffs consistent with age but remain presentable and well-maintained.
