This exceptional burlwood upholstered loveseat was designed by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin, circa 1960s. A striking example of mid-century modern design, this piece stands out as one of the finest sofas of its kind we have displayed in many years.

The exterior of the loveseat is encased in beautifully figured burlwood that wraps seamlessly around the sides and back, showcasing a rich and highly desirable woodgrain pattern. The craftsmanship and natural variation in the burl create a visually stunning case that elevates the entire design.

Inside the casing, the loveseat retains its original upholstery, featuring a refined striped fabric in dark navy and brown, with beige as the dominant tone. The combination of the warm burlwood and classic textile adds depth and sophistication to the piece.

The loveseat is supported by a solid chrome frame that lifts the structure off the floor, creating the elegant illusion that the piece is floating within the space. This architectural base is a hallmark of Baughman’s modern aesthetic.

Ideal for a spacious living room or open interior, the loveseat is designed to be appreciated from all angles, with the burlwood back allowing it to be beautifully displayed away from a wall. The piece also retains its original Thayer Coggin cloth label, clearly identifying both the designer and manufacturer, and further confirming its authenticity.

The burlwood sides and exterior casing remain in excellent original condition, showing only minimal signs of age and use, such as light surface scratches or small dents consistent with vintage pieces. The original upholstery has been professionally cleaned. While the fabric presents well overall, some marks from prior use will be highlighted in the images. The cushions remain in good structural condition with no notable deterioration from age.
