Modern Walnut credenza designed by Milo Baughman for Directional, and manufactured by Johnson Furniture Co. of Grand Rapids in the 1960s. This buffet/credenza is model number 343, which is stamped on the back of the piece, finished in an oiled walnut with a matte black base. The 4 drawers in the center have a bookmatched woodgrain that flows from the top drawer to the bottom, creating the feeling of a single piece of wood. The top drawer has dividers for silverware. The left side has one height-adjustable shelf, and the right side also has a height-adjustable shelf but with a cutout to place taller bottles inside. Each side is covered by a double-length hinged folding door. We restored the top on this piece to remove blemishes and bring the piece back to its original look. We cleaned up the rest of the finish to ensure as much of the original finish was kept, and we touched up some of the matte black parts to give a smooth, clean look. The base does show some small dents from vacuums over the years, which can not be seen unless you get down close to the legs. The piece was used, so it may show some small signs of this, but overall, this piece cleaned up very well and is ready for its next life. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, and thanks for looking!
