John Keal for Brown Saltman Walnut Dinind Chairs (Set of 6), C. 1950s

Set of six solid walnut dining chairs by John Keal for Brown Saltman, circa 1950s. This set comprises of two armchairs and four side chairs. All six chairs are finished in an oiled walnut that shows off the wood grain from every angle. These chairs were expertly designed and crafted to showcase American mid-century modern design at its finest. Brown Saltman closed in 1960, not before creating some of the finest pieces of the era.
Each chair sits sturdily and does not show any major issues other than a few small marks towards the bottom of the legs, consistent with age/use. The caning on one armchair and one side chair has a small break in the caning that can be seen in our images. You will notice this on a close inspection of the chairs. Each seat had new foam and a plush off white textured upholstery. The chair frames were also oiled and polished. Please reach out if you have any questions, and thanks for looking!
