*Because the cost varies with an item's weight, size, and destination, we can't provide a firm and fixed price quote for shipping in the shipping estimate calculator in this listing. Please provide us with your zip code and we will find a competitive shipping quote for your area. If you are happy with our estimate just let us know and we will add this cost to the listing for online checkout. Our shipping estimate will be for a door-to-door blanket wrap or white glove shipping service if requested. Delivery times vary depending on how fast we can find a shipper and how well-traveled certain areas are. We do not recommend Freight service for transporting larger pieces but these are options for smaller pieces of furniture.

Item Description:
Here is a very nice solid wood rocking lounge chair by FOX MANUFACTURING COMPANY of Rome Georgia, circa 1950s. This is the first time we have come across a piece from this maker and it is very similar in design/construction to sofas made by Heywood Wakefield from the same period. The unusual curved design of the armrests along with what seems to be 3 copper bars that create the interior of the arm is a very nice feature. This was a basement find so the cushions do have a slight basement odor, we did give them a thorough cleaning and sanitizing as per PA law so they are clean but will need to be replaced. The original cushions are made in the same way as a spring mattress is made and can be used as templates for new replacements. The cushions most likely have horsehair and are quite heavy. The solid wood frame is very sturdy, it does have some signs of wear from age and would be a great candidate for restoration. We cleaned up the armrests and tightened all screws and bolts as we went through our inspection process. Overall for a piece that is 70+ years old, it is in good overall condition. Please see our images for more details and reach out anytime if you have questions. Thanks for looking!
