Description:
Here is a very nicely restored American walnut Linear credenza by Paul McCobb for Calvin Furniture Co., circa 1950s. In the LINEAR group, McCobb has created a luxury look! The silvery pewter-finish hardware echoes the horizontal line and serves along with the slender pilasters at the sides as an accent to the deep finish of American walnut. This piece sits a little higher than most credenzas, on the left side it has 2 deep drawers for silverware, and on the right, it has one height-adjustable shelf. With a large open area on both sides, it has lots of room for storage. This piece could also be used in a living room as a media cabinet to hold a flat-panel TV. The streamlined design by McCobb and the superior quality of the walnut wood make this piece stand out among other exceptional modern designs from the same era. This piece was stripped down to the wood, sanded, and a new finish applied to bring it back as close as possible to its original look. This piece did come from a smoker's home and was treated to remove any odors but we wanted to point this out in advance. There was one small repair done by the original owner to the back left leg at some stage during its lifetime and a small screw was added to strengthen this leg, as it is holding up pretty well and sits solidly we left this as is, you can see this in our last photo. Overall this piece is in very good restored condition. Please reach out if you have any questions and thanks for looking!
