Here is a beautifully restored teak dining table by Johannes Andersen for VEJLE STOLE- og MØBELFABRIK of Denmark, circa 1960s. This draw leaf extension table showcases some of the best features of mid-century modern design from this era. Two cantilever leaves sit hidden underneath the large teak tabletop and you lift the top slightly on each end to slide the leaves out, then push the leaves back in just a hair to let the tabletop apron click into place leaving a perfectly level table. When fully extended this table is almost 9 feet long and can accommodate 8 Danish chairs without being extended. The table top showcases a book-matched grain that flows perfectly with the leaves (when they are fully extended). When the leaves are hidden the tabletop apron sits down over them to hide both leaves from view and showcases the table at its best. This table is one of our favorite designs and it is ready for a new chapter.
We took this table apart in-house and thoroughly cleaned and polished it inside and out. The tabletop was sanded and oiled to bring back its original look/feel before adding a durable pre-cat laquear to allow for protection when in use. The leaves are in their original condition, they were never used so they are in very good condition. The table legs were stripped down, sanded, and finished in the same manner as the tabletop. There is one small 1/2 knot in the wood that came out in the table frame, this is pictured in our last photo. This does not affect the stability of the table and is hidden when the tabletop apron sits over it so it's not visible on a daily basis but we wanted to point this out in advance. The tabletop turned out very nice and showcases the wood grain perfectly but there are a few very small marks that may still be visible but overall this table is sturdy and in good restored condition. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions on this table and thanks for looking!
