Item Description:
Here is a very nice modern and comfortable sectional sofa upholstered in a brown wool fabric, circa 1950s. This piece was expertly crafted by skilled craftspeople and based on the materials, and design we estimate this was made in the 1950s. Both pieces of this sectional sofa sit on sturdy black cast iron modern legs which gives this piece a very nice modern look. After some thorough investigating we have found evidence of 2 other fabrics on this piece and this current fabric would be the 3rd reupholstery made to this piece since new. We have not been able to identify the maker of this piece and it is possible it was custom-made by a high-end furniture maker in the mid-century era. The remnants of the original fabric we found inside the sofa are very similar to fabrics used in early Dunbar pieces. The brown wool fabric is in decent condition with some minimal sun fading to the seat cushions and a very small separation in the stitching on the underside of the large single corner pieces seat cushion (see the last photo). This piece would be a great candidate for reupholstery. We did add some new dust cloth to the underside of this piece and overall this piece is in good clean condition.
