Item Description:
Here is a beautiful pair of exceptionally well-made highback lounge chairs upholstered in an avocado green original fabric on solid walnut frames, circa 1950s. Both chairs are very heavy and comfortable upright chairs. They showcase the best of American modern design from the oiled walnut base that continues up the side of the back. These chairs are sturdy and are in decent condition for their age. Both chairs are unmarked, we have found the same chairs that sold at auction and on other sites that are attributed to T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb but we have not been able to find evidence of this, however, the chair without the frame does match other designs from his portfolio. These chairs are very well made and are of a higher quality than most mid-century designs.

We painstakingly cleaned these chairs to save the original fabric, they were in a smoker's home at some stage of their life and they had some small burn marks that we cleaned up and can be seen in our last image. We cleaned each chair thoroughly, sanitized it with Steri-Fab as required by PA law, and treated them with a deodorizer which gave them a fresh scent. We did add a new dust cloth to the underside. The fabric is now in good condition and ready for use and the new owner can take their time to think about reupholstering them down the road. The walnut frames were cleaned up and they do still show some signs of wear but overall they are good. Please see our images for details and reach out if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!
